In June, the Script demanded that the acclaimed director by $5 million, alleging that there was an agreement that Daniels was not able to honor. Dash is supposed to get a co-executive producer credit in a Richard Pryor project and five percent of the Daniels' backend profits. Dash said that he gave Daniels $2 million dollars that you never paid.

Things came to a critical point when Dash confronted Daniels on the Diana Ross show in Hollywood at the end of June.

In a now-deleted Instagram post, Dash explained why he was taking legal action.
