Eminem Calls Chuck D & B-Real "Gods" After Winning the MTV EMA for Best Hip Hop Artist Award

London, England – At the MTV EMAs on Sunday (November 12), Eminem, opened the ceremony with a performance of "Walk On Water", her new single with Beyoncé. Moments later, the experienced MC won the award for Best Hip Hop Artist, which was presented by the Prophets Of Rage artists Chuck D, Tom Morello and B-Real. The honor seemed to surprise the recipient.

During his acceptance speech, Ma said that he did not understand how he could catch the award without releasing an album since 2013's The Marshall Mathers LP 2, but assured the audience that this was "coming". Also acknowledged Hip-Hop royalty, standing behind him, referring to the Public Enemy frontman and Cypress Hill MC as "gods".

"First of all, I want to start ... I'm not really sure how I came to this because I haven't had an album in the next few years," he says. "I'm a comin' though. But I, just before I forget, I want to thank the fans and I want to thank MTV. I also want to thank Chuck D, and B-Real you for so much inspiration and are one of the reasons that I'm even able to be here now. These guys are like gods to me, man."

Eminem is the ninth studio album, Recovery, is expected to arrive at any time. In the meantime, check out his acceptance speech above.
