Hip Hop Album Sales: The Weeknd Runs Away With The #1 Spot
In addition, Rich Kid's first studio album cracks the Top 5.
The Weeknd doesn't need much promo to secure his third consecutive #1 debut on the Billboard 200. The successes of the singer My Dear Melancholy EP continued with its good run despite his abrupt release. In another part of the table for the week that ended April 5, Rico The Kid's inaugural LP performed well enough to reach #2.

At the end of March, The Weeknd surprised fans by teasing a brand new project and dropping a couple of days later. Despite the lack of the large promotion campaign, with their fans supporting their Beloved Melancholy in mass and helped it reached #1 this week on the Billboard 200.
The EP moved 168,570 total album equivalent units with 68,480 that comes in pure album sales. The total surpassed his closest competition by over 100,000 units, and he can't do yet another tease.

Rich Boy's First Album Lands At #2

Rich Boy's debut album, The World Is Yours, landed at #2 in its first week on the chart. The Rich and Always the Music of the founder LP managed the feat, taking 59,095 total album equivalent units.
The inclusion of the Kendrick Lamar-assisted "New Freezer" and the popular "Plug Walk" without doubt helped the transmission of numbers (74,278,829 in total) for the Rich. The World Is Yours sold 6,413 in pure sales, which is why most of the fans heard through their streaming service of choice.
