Hip Hop Week In Review: Kanye West's Twitter Spree & J. Cole's "KOD" Album

HipHopDX – This week in Hip Hop, Kanye West made his return to Twitter with a series of philosophical tweets, and the music of the release dates for himself, Kid Cudi, Pusha T, and Teyana Taylor. Also, J. Cole dropped his fifth studio album KOD and Drake announced their new Scorpion LP.

Kanye West disappeared from Twitter for a while, but has now returned with a large amount of energy. In usual Yeezy fashion, the G. O. O. D. Music boss unleashed a flurry of thought-provoking tweets that are sandwiched between the release dates of his album (June 1), with the collaboration of a LP with Kid Cudi, called to the Children to See Ghost (8 June), Teyana Taylor's next project (22 June) and Pusha T's highly anticipated King Push (25 May.

J. Cole Releases KOD

J. Cole treated fans to a surprise by the release of his KOD album on Friday (April 20) and of the rupture of Spotify's opening day record in doing so. There are No features except the mysterious Killing of Edward, that many assume that it is J. Cole himself.

Cole seemed to point to Lil Pump (and the rise of other rappers like him) in the KOD song "1985," which got a disdainful response to the "Gucci Gang" rap star. The Dreamville boss also dropped a quirky music video for the album standout "ATM".
