.idk, Describes How the loss of His Mother Influenced "IWASVERYBAD"
#DXCLUSIVE: Maryland-bred MC opens up about the duel, and his two addictions.
Prince George's County, MARYLAND – Many artists quote the lyric writing as a cathartic experience. It is a way to purge all those burst of emotions that it can sometimes be overwhelming. For .idk (formerly known as Jay IDK), her writing process is almost of another world. It also helped him through one of the most difficult moments in his life — the loss of his mother in the year 2016.
"It's a bit like an out-of-body experience a lot of the time, where it's like somebody else is doing some of the things" .idk, explains to HipHopDX. "Because I even listen to the music, sometimes there is a sign, and I am surprised that some of the things that I am able to write and say because I almost underestimated just how clever you can be with certain letters. Because as I have already said, is out-of-body experience. You feel me?"
Since stepping on the scene with its Sex, Drugs, and the Task mixtape in 2014, he continued to push his own creativity barriers to Adult Swim realized. While working on their next album, IWASVERYBAD, London-born, Maryland-bred MC struggled with the pain he was feeling after his mother passed.
"I had a little bit of just figuring things out and trying to understand myself, when I was working on it," he says. "I was in ... I don't mean a dark place, but not a bright place. I had just lost my mom and there was a feeling that felt like a cloud over your head that you can't get rid of. Even if it is a bright day, it feels like something is wrong. You know what I mean? So, that's a little bit of how the music was starting to feel. All that was aggression or only a kind of dreary to a degree."
I ma, tell Biggie, Pac, Micheal Jackson, and Lil Peep I said hey 💔👼🏾

The cover art of IWASVERYBAD is saying in his own. It shows the back of the 25-year-old MC in an orange D. O. C. jumpsuit with a white dove sitting on your shoulder, which is intended to r
