Kodak Black Sentenced To Year In Jail

Broward County, FL – Kodak Black has been sentenced to a year behind bars after hitting an agreement with prosecutors in Florida in your gun and marijuana case, according to The Explosion.

Black, whose real name is Dieuson Eighth, pleaded guilty to two violations of probation — driving with a suspended license and the association with people who commit crimes after prosecutors dropped the other charges against him.

Bradford Cohen, a Black attorney, was pleased with the end result, as seen in a post to Twitter on Tuesday afternoon (April 17).

"You only have fully resolved @KodakBlack1k case," he wrote. "The State and the Judge is professional and fair. I am happy, not only for a client, but for a friend. There are great things in store for him, and he is happy to have this behind him."

Earlier in the day, Cohen said his client was studying hard for his GED.

Congrats to my client @KodakBlack1k to the board the nomination. All good things for him. He studied hard for his GED and focused. #bbma

Black faces up to 12 years in prison after his January 18 arrest on several charges, including grand theft of a firearm, weapons possession, drug possession, child neglect and violation of probation. The charges of possession of a weapon by a convicted felon, third-degree grand theft and child neglect were dropped, a month later, but prosecutors felony charges of possession of cannabis and possession of ammunition by a felon.

Once the Heart Break Kodak rapper is released from the county jail, he will not have to serve more time on parole. Black has already been locked up for 90 days, by what might seem to be as soon as October, with good behavior.
