Kool Keith Confirms New Dr. Octagon Album Is Just Around The Corner
Hip Hop purists rejoice.
Hip Hop stalwarts Kool Keith, Dan The Automator and DJ Qbert — known collectively as the Dr. Octagon — delivered with his magnum opus, Dr. Octagonecologyst in 1996. Shortly after its release, the three were separated to work on other activities.
But the past month of April, Dan The Automator revealed that there was at least some of the new Dr. Octagon material on the horizon. Now, Kool Keith confirms Dr. Octagon's first official album in more than 20 years, is, in fact, finished and on its way.
When asked when it would be released, Keith told HipHopDX, "in a couple of months. People thought of me and Automator were not friends after the first album and Qbert went on to DJ only. We take a break, but then I decided that it was time to get back together."
A greater interest in the group, was probably caused last year, when Dr. Octagon came together for a handful of shows in California and the Records are re-releasing a special 20th anniversary edition of Dr. Octagonecologyst.
Despite Dr. Octagon long hiatus, Q, The Automator and Keith have been to over the years. Keith dropped his most recent solo album, Feature Magnetic, in the year 2016. Q revitalized the turntable of the TV series through Facebook last year and has been performing with his Invisibl Skratch Piklz brothers, while The Automator worked on projects like Deltron 3030 with Del The Funky Homosapien.
