L. A. Reid Signs Big Boi's New Label
After being accused of sexual harassment in the past year, the veteran music exec L. A. Reid left his position at Epic Records. Now, Reid has reemerged with a new label called HitCo, and has announced Outkast's Big Boi as his first signing.
According to Variety, HitCo is trying to get the ATLiens' solo track "All Night" on the radio. The song saw a resurgence in popularity after its use in the iPhone X of the campaign. The video that accompanies the announcement of Apple has more than 15 million views.
Reid has worked with Outkast since their days on the Edge. At the time, Big Boi and André 3000 were fresh out of high school. During this period, the duo picked up multiple Grammy awards for his work in the 2000's Stankonia and 2003's Speakerboxxx/The Love Below.
HitCo will reportedly be distributed by the independent label EMPIRE.
