Madonna Gets Dragged By Twitter, Defended By Questlove For The Prince Tribute

Madonna performed Prince's "Nothing compares 2 U" on the Billboard Music Awards, and the critics seem inclined to agree.

Las Vegas, NV - Madonna took the stage at the 2016 Billboard Music Awards last night (May 22) for a tribute to the Prince, singing a version of "Nothing compares 2 U". apparently, many Prince fans would agree with the sentiment of the song when it comes to the Madonna of the pipe of the deceased singer.

At 57 years of age, the pop star also partnered with Stevie Wonder to cover "Purple Rain", ending the awards ceremony with the crowd inside Las Vegas' T-Mobile Arena singing and waving purple lights. She closed by thanking "Prince Rogers Nelson" to all.

As two of the biggest pop stars of the last 30 years, Prince and Madonna paths crossed many times. Dated briefly in 1985, there were on-and-off again public coffers, and collaborated on "Love Song" from her album 1989 Like A Prayer.

Even before the delivery of prizes, some Prince devotees were against his making homage, with a request knead almost 9,000 signatures.

During and after the performance, many critics of Twitter went in.
