The film's trailer is soundtracked with "DNA" of Kendrick Lamar, a nice touch considering the film's subject matter. Adonis Creed, the son of the late Apollo Creed, is to go head to head with Viktor Drago, the son of Ivan Drago, a.k.the Russian fighter that killed the elder Creed during Rocky IV exhibition match.
MGM and Warner Brothers confirmed, via press release for the trailer, that the film was directed by Stephen Caple, Jr., Cleveland, OH native previously known for his work on Earth (IFC) and A Different Tree, two acclaimed films by critics, who focused on the African-American bullets.

The film's screenplay was written by Stallone and Luke Cage showrunner (and ex-music journalist), Cheo Hodari Coker. Michael B. Jordan and Ryan Coogler serve as executive producers of the film.
In addition to Jordan, a repetition of his role as Adonis Creed, Stallone will reprise his role as Rocky Balboa, Tessa Thompson will reprise his role of Bianca, and Dolph Lundgren will reprise his role as Ivan Drago.
Florian Munteanu, a former boxer from Romania, will play Viktor Drago, the son of Ivan Drago.
