Mysterious Jay Z-Related "4:44" Project Gets A Release Date
DXclusive: Posters are popping up in Hollywood, with more details on the project.
Los Angeles, CA – Rumors have been circulating around the internet that Jay Z is the spearhead of a mysterious marketing campaign that is marked with the number "4:44" from the beginning of June. Many people jumped to the conclusion that it was an album of Jay Z based on his recent moves and the campaign for the connection of TIDAL, the streaming service owned by Hip Hop mogul. The confusion deepened after a black-and-white trailer of what appeared to be a film premiered during the NBA Finals, with names like the Academy Award-winning actors Mahershala Ali and Lupita Nyong o, as well as Danny Glover. Although Jay Z's name was noticeably absent, people were apparently convinced that he still had something to do with it.
To add fuel to the fire is the last piece of the puzzle — a date. On Friday (16 June), posters promoting whatever" 4:44" appeared in Hollywood, California, with "6.30.17" plastered across them and Jay Z's name thrown into the mix.
The posters were also together with the words: "Exclusively in sprint.tidal.com," so it is clear the TIDES have been associated with the huge telecommunications company for the release.
Considering Hov's wife Beyoncé dropped an album visual in the form of LEMONADE in the month of April 2016, maybe my husband is following the example? Or maybe the trailer serves as a visual of a song? Or maybe hinting at an album that acts as the soundtrack for a film titled 4:44? Could be the long-awaited follow-up from Jay's 2013 Magna Carta Holy Grail? Whatever the case, the veil of mystery that surrounds the secret project is intriguing enough to get people talking, which is presumably the point. So far it has worked.
Take a look at the posters above.
