Phresher Explains How he came as a special Guest On Eminem's "Revival"
He can thank an old friend of Slim Shady.
Eminem seems to be handling all the heavy work in the rap side of their ninth studio album, Revival. But he did recruit a relatively unknown spitter, Phresher, with the only rap feature on the upcoming LP. In a new interview with ThisIs50, Phresher analyzed the experience of being called to work with the rap legend.
The Brooklyn native revealed that Eminem learned of him after Royce Da 5'9 remixed Phresher 2016 viral hit, "Wait A Minute". After listening to the original, Slim Shady's team came to the 28-year-old rapper, asking her to record a hook for a Revival.
Describe the process of recording, Phresher explains how Em flew to New York for a maximum of eight hours with "Chloraseptic" track is already finished, save for PHresh off the hook. Em was very excited, after listening to Phresher set the hook and harmonize with her, asking if he could also record a verse.
"The conversation with him was like, he told me how much he appreciates my music, and I like, no, no, no, I understand that you are my favorite artist," Phresher recalled. "He had said," get away, one-by-one, you and I need to have a talk", and that when I knew that I was here, and I was actually doing something."
The up-and-coming rapper repeatedly called Eminem their favorite artist and the one that refers to this location as an honor and a blessing.
"Eminem is my favorite artist," he said. "I know that is a cliché, but it is my favorite artist. It is a level of respect."
Phresher has been releasing music since 2010, and jumped to the fame after "Wait A Minute", which was remixed by artists such as RiFF RAFF, Desiigner, 50 Cent, and Young, M. A. has also collaborated on tracks with Desiigner and the Cardi B.
