Pras Recalls Lauryn Hill & Wyclef Jean Lose $90M Fugees Meeting Opp
"You never hear of me again that you belong to the Fugees."
New York, NY – The Fugees disbanded in 1997 after the trio of the seminal album The Score had already gone 4x platinum. The tension between Pras, Lauryn Hill and Wyclef Jean had become too toxic to ignore.
MC Pras, the brain behind the group, sat down for an interview with Hot 97's Ebro In The Morning earlier this week and opened up about their relationship. He reveals why the Fugees will never reunite.
"I was in the Titanic when I was with the group," he said. "I knew that was going to come to an end. When I formed the group, I knew that it was volatile. So, I was always planning ahead, knowing this thing's not really going to last."
Pras also explained that reunification with the group would be like "going down a rabbit hole."
"I don't want any part of that," he said. "Life is short. I have indeed exceeded the capacity of the band to be honest with you. I'm past that point. It was a great time. I will never, ever not be grateful for that time, for both Wyclef and Lauryn. They are the reason why I'm here.
"But this is too much. I am very, very pragmatic individual. Granted, sometimes we have compromised our principles. I understood as, 'Man, I need to get out of the hood. This is my ticket out of the hood, so I only have to deal with this situation.' It was the most dysfunctional of the energy, for a minute, you are in love and fuck it feel good and the next minute, you're ready to black out. That shit is not good for your emotional state, man. It is as if you are being torn apart, only emotionally."

The last nail in the coffin came when the Fugees were offered $90 million for a 15-month run, and Wyclef an
