Reactions Pour In After The Terrorist Attack In Barcelona Kills At Least 13 People

Russell Simmons, Talib Kweli, Kid Ink, and Barack Obama are among the many who have chimed in.

Barcelona, Spain – A white van, according to reports, it crashed into a massive crowd in Barcelona, Spain, on Thursday (August 17), killing at least 13 people and wounding dozens more. The BBC has confirmed that it was an attack jihadist. According to witnesses, the suspects zigzagged at high speed by the Ramblas, the street, mowing down pedestrians and leaving bodies in his wake.

One of the suspects was killed and two others have been detained, according to The Independent. Meanwhile, more than 100 people have been hospitalized in connection with the attack.

Many people in the Hip Hop community have taken to social media to express their reactions to the melee combat, including Russell Simmons, Lyrics Born, Kid Ink, and Talib Kweli.

The former president Barack Obama also released on Twitter and wrote: "Michelle and I are thinking of the victims and their families in Barcelona. Americans always stand with our Spanish friends. The un abrozo." Un abrazo is Spanish for "a hug."

This latest tragedy comes on the heels of the violence in Charlottesville, Virginia.
