Royce Da 5'9 is Seated In the Critics Of Eminem's BET Cypher

Lord Jamar recently questioned the image of a white man, standing in front of equally capable black men.

Despite receiving many compliments, Eminem title shot of cypher in the 2017 BET Hip Hop Awards has also received some criticism since it aired earlier this month. The criticisms have led to a defense of some prominent MCs including Royce Da 5'9.

Several critics have questioned the technical side of Eminem. Others have taken issue with the image portrayed in the cypher video, which features Eminem standing in front of several members of his Shady Records in the list.

Lord Jamar is one of those who criticized the optics of the same. The well-known member of Brand Nubian says that he is not the image of a white man, standing in front of equally capable black men.

"My problem with the freestyle was one of the images," he said during an interview with VladTV. "I don't like the image of a white man, standing in the front capable of black men behind him – because I saw people like Conway. I'm assuming Westside Gunn was back there with him also ... I saw Royce [Da 5'9]. So my thing as the psychological, the image of it is that it has a white man, with able to black men behind him, but he is going to step in the forefront and speak for us when we are able to speak for ourselves. As the men of truth speak for themselves.

"The psychological picture he paints and what he is going to stay with you more than any thing that he said is the image that we saw. And the image I saw was another example of, 'I've got this black man. Let the white man come and save the day. I have a little more fame and power than you. I'm a little more eloquent than you are." That all Tarzan, Abraham Lincoln, the white man is going to save the black man from the pictures, I do not like."

Royce, a longtime friend of Eminem and a member of Bad Meets Evil, has responded to Jamar and those who have a similar view.

I was one of those "Black in the background of encryption" ... Benson has just died, I don't even have to think about this ... Fake woke up ass niggas
