The countdown To HipHopDX At SXSW: Jack Harlow

Get to know the "ice cream" MC Louisville that are made in DX's sample.

Jack Harlow is a young woman of 19 years of age, the rapper credits his career in the music industry for the video game Guitar Hero. A native of Louisville, Kentucky, Harlow stood up quickly with his breakdown of the song "Ice Cream", which helped his mixtape debut, the 18, to accumulate millions of streams.

Harlow followed by hitting the studio harder than ever and the release of his Gazebo debut album. Received rave reviews from heavy hitters such as DJ Drama, who will be sharing the stage with Harlow's this year DX's SXSW showcase.

Before Jack hits the SXSW stage, HipHopDX had a chance to catch up with him and learn what is most looking forward to at the festival this year.

HipHopDX: Have you performed at SXSW before? What makes this year different?

Jack Harlow: Once last year and after a new project ... making better shows.

What is what more thrilled about performing at the festival?

They got this pizza place with $2 slices. Are huge and well!

Do you plan on watching other performances?

It is more than a convention, so I'm going to see and take a environment. Who knows what I'll see.

What has been the best and/or worst part of the preparation for the presentations?

I have had a set ready, so I feel good about it; there are no bad feelings.

There are thousands of performers at SXSW. Why should people come and see you?

Because I have the best songs.

What was your first show outside of his native city, and, what was the best memory of her?

Department Store in Atlanta. I was on spring break in high school and came into my own. Done there, I met a lot of people. It was very cool because the Department Store closed right after I left, so it was great that there were held.

What was your first paid gig?

Had a show in a small bar when I was like 15/16. Probably 50 people came. It was pretty tight. I walked out of there with a cost of $200.
