The countdown to HipHopDX At SXSW: Sherwood Marty

20 years old of Baton Rouge rapper Sherwood Marty, that will be held in DX's SXSW showcase.

Sherwood Marty wants the world to know that his music is "a real street shit, gangster shit, and capture the passion, heart and love at the same time." The 20-year-old Baton Rouge native presented his 2016 debut mixtape Stuck In The Trenches: Self-Made Vol. 1 next to underground favorites "Everything" and "Enter." Your "Sherwood Baby" music video also cracked a million plays, which helped to capture the attention of 300 Entertainment.

At the end of 2017, Marty was working with Atlanta up-and-comer OMB Peezy after his encounter with him on Instagram and going on the release of his mixtape joint Young & Reckless. As he launches new projects Fresh Prince of Sherwood, and Sherwood, Baby Sherwood Marty the hope that his honest lyrics will connect with listeners everywhere.

Before Sherwood Marty performed this year at SXSW, for the first time, HipHopDX had the opportunity to know him before he hits the stage.

HipHopDX: have you ever performed at SXSW before?

Sherwood Marty: No, the first time in history.

What are you most excited about performing at the festival?

Definitely the networking and getting my face out there.

Do you plan on watching other performances? What are the most likely to see?

What has been the best and/or worst part of the preparation for the presentations?

The best part is to do what I like. The worst part is that in addition, it is over!

There are thousands of performers at SXSW. Why should people come and see you?

Because I am a new face! I have been asked to come earlier, but I wanted my anticipation to be as it is now!

What was your first paid gig?

White Castle, Louisiana. I don't remember what it was, but it was lit up.
