The Weeknd And Belly Cancel Jimmy Kimmel Appearance Because Of Donald Trump
"You may Not" want to be associated with Donald Trump.
Los Angeles, CA - The Hip-Hop community had more shots at presidential candidate Donald Trump when The Weeknd and Belly canceled his appearance on "Jimmy Kimmel Live!".
The Associated Press reports that the two artists decided to withdraw from the evening on the night of the program because the entrepreneur was scheduled to appear in the same episode, and they do not want to be associated with the Triumph. The filming of the show was set for the day yesterday (May 25) in Los Angeles. Belly was to perform his song "don't" which features The Weeknd.
"I feel like the way I was raised was to be able to see through all the titles on this world, from religion to race, the Womb," he said in a statement. "I don't want to feel like I was a part of a celebration for someone who has beliefs which most of us do not agree."
The womb, who is signed to Roc Nation, is the promotion of his upcoming mixtape, Another Day in Paradise. Explained its decision to deviate from the sample is to distance themselves from Trump's recent comments calling Mexicans criminals and rapists, and declare a ban on all Muslims of the people traveling to the united States.
"I'm here on a campaign of positivity and love and to contribute what I can to the music, the Belly," he continued. "I can create songs that people go to sleep and wake up to, songs to fall in love. For me, being a Muslim and being someone who appreciates my access to here in America, I love the fact that I am able to be here. To play my part in this business is a privilege and a beautiful thing. The fact that I could lose that ability through the actions of someone like Donald Trump is not right for me. To all of you".
The belly and The Weeknd a long working relationship. Between their shared writing credits include the XO of the crew leader's hits "The Hills", "Often" and the Oscar-nominated "Cattle", which appears in the 50 Shades of Grey soundtrack.
