The Detective $hort.
New York, NY – Too $hort was on deck at the Sapphire Gentlemen's Club in New York this week to promote his forthcoming project, The Pimp of the Tape. As he was doing the press rounds, which opened up about his relationship with the late Eazy-E.
The Bay Area Hip-Hop legend tells Page Six he's still not convinced that the gangsta rap pioneer died of AIDS, but he did not want to delve too deeply into the topic. Quickly jumped to a tangent and began to talk about Eazy's legacy.
"I do not necessarily agree," he said. "I really don't want to go into that now. But that is not what I think happened. I like to think of it this way — since you mentioned Eazy-E, let's say that if there was no Eazy-E, how is it that the impact of Hip-Hop?
"If you had no Eazy-E, you don't have N. W. a, Dr. Dre, not Ice cube not Tupac Death row years . . . not Bone Thugs. There are No Consequences, not 50 Cent, Eminem not — the way in which we know them. The branch is called Eazy-E the Hip Hop tree is huge."
It is well documented Eazy died of complications from AIDS in 1995. Obviously, $hort don't think so. He also refuses to accept the circumstances surrounding the death of UGK legend Pimp C.
In an interview with HipHopDX last month of December, $hort, he explained, "I can't believe is 10 years old and I still... never until today, has been able to accept the circumstances.
"That's a lot of these weird little situations with people going in found in hotel rooms and that will always be by themselves in a shitty hotel somewhere in some weird shit and I'm like, what the hell is going on with celebrities and hotel rooms?"
He is called the Detective $hort.
