Cut Chemist Announce "die" LP With the 1st Single "Work My Mind"

This marks the Jurassic 5 DJ's first solo album since 2006's "The Audience Is Listening."

Los Angeles, CA – Cut Chemist — DJ for Jurassic 5 and founding member of Ozomatli — is back with his first solo LP from the year 2006 in The Listening Audience. In addition to the album announcement, the los Angeles-based turntablist has shared the project's first single and accompanying video "Work My Mind", with fellow J5 member Chali 2na and frequent collaborator Hymnal.

"This is the death of a musical identity and the birth of another, of Court", explained in a press release. "It is not just the cut-and-paste style. I'm working with more musicians and sampling less. This is different. The content is more emotionally heavy, although it is fun. This brings us back to the energy that you can share with live musicians instead of a DJ alone on stage. I wanted to capture that with this style of music."

The slightly creepy visual is Court — as the mad scientist is — unite the many moving parts of the track as Chali and Hymnal rap along to the discouraged, uptempo beat. Towards the end, a presence of demonic slinks through a graveyard, adding an element of horror in the visual.

Cutting die also features appearances by Mr. Lif, Freestyle Fellowship's Myka 9, The Mars Volta's Deantoni Parks, Biz Markie, the Motherhood, the actress Erika Christensen, tUnE-yArDs, Farmer Dave Scher, Dexter Story, and more. The project is expected to arrive in early 2018.

The seasoned Hip-Hop vet has been staying busy with his Stable Audio podcast and a lot of live shows around the world (both solo and with J5).
