Frank Ocean Takes Out Brad Pitt In the FYF Fest
The two collaborated on a cover of Stevie Wonder's "Close To You/Never Can Say Goodbye."
Los Angeles, CA – FYF Fest 2017 fell in Los Angeles over the weekend and featured an incredible list of artists, including Björk, A Tribe Called Quest, Missy Elliott, Erykah Badu and Frank Ocean. During the Odd Future alum on the night of Saturday (July 22), brought out an unexpected guest, the actor Brad Pitt.
Ocean obviously caught wind of Pitt's comments during an interview with GQ magazine, praising the Blonde singer. "I've been listening to a lot of Frank Ocean," he said. "It seems to Me that this young man so special. Talk about getting to the raw truth. He is painfully honest. He is very, very special"
In consequence, the Ocean came up to Pitt and went the whole nine, inviting Pitt to join him at FYF for a cover of Stevie Wonder's 1972 remake of "Close To You/Never Can Say Goodbye", originally written by The Carpenters.
According to Billboard, said that he discovered the song "in a YouTube wormhole." Ocean, he said, "became my favorite song. I hope to do justice."
Meanwhile, the Fight Club actor did what he knows best-acted out a phone conversation while Ocean performed the song.
For concert-goers, it was probably a relief Ocean just appeared. The 29-year-old Long Beach native cancelled two major presentations at festivals earlier this year and pulled out of FYF Fest 2015 at the last minute, causing the organisers to replace it with Kanye West.
