Macklemore Unhurt After Collision With Drunk Driver
The Washington native was cruising in his Mercedes when the accident occurred.
Langley, WA – Ben Haggerty, better known as Macklemore, was reportedly involved in a frontal collision in Langley, Washington, a remote island 90 minutes north of Seattle. Around 11 pm PST on Friday (July 28), a drunk driver in a pickup crashed into the Washington native Mercedes after rounding a curve, and crossing to the traffic.
According to the police, the drunk driver not wearing a seat belt and his head hit the windshield on impact. He was bleeding and unconscious, but, of course, by the time the police arrived, he was able to answer your questions. As stated in the police report, the man told the officers that he had a drink "a new time" and when pressed for a more specific time, he responded with, "the 5 of the afternoon."
The "thrift Shop" rapper had two passengers with him. One person was treated for a minor cut on the head, but the three of them walked away relatively unscathed from the accident. The drunk driver was taken to a hospital and the Washington State Police are charging him with a DUI.
HipHopDX reached out to Macklemore and his manager for comment, but they have yet to respond.
Macklemore has just released a new single with Lil Yachty entitled "Jam" and a video of "the Glorious", as he puts the finishing touches on his next solo album. He and his partner in crime Ryan Lewis announced an indefinite hiatus last month.
"After the last tour, Ryan and I agree that some creative space would be good for the two of us," Mack wrote in a lengthy Instagram caption. "Ryan Lewis is my brother forever. We have been working together, damn near every day for 9 years and it felt like the right time. This decision was taken on from a place of love for one another."
In the meantime, he apparently also found a new passion to unsettle spinners. Take a look at the Instagram video of him getting to "Planet Rock," below.
This video is for all those who have found their passion in life. Finally I discovered mine. #fidgetsp
