N. W. a "Fuck Tha Police" Gets DJ ejected From the Bar And a fine
DJ Boogy insists that he was not trying to insight a riot when played N. W. a's "Fuck the police" at a school event.
Kashawn Harris, who goes by the name of DJ Boogy, he says that he meant no harm when he played N. W. a's "Fuck the police", while the hosting of a set in Shenanigans in the Pub, in Massachusetts, in the month of October. Firefighters arrived to close the place down after having overcome its 160-person capacity.
According to MassLive, Harris was found guilty of disorderly conduct on March 11 and must pay a fine of $50.
"I had no intention of inciting a riot," Harris says of the return of the event for his alma mater, the State University of Westfield. "It was just college kids having fun."
In the official police report, officer Juanita Mejias says that the multiple factors that create an unsafe environment that requires the intervention of the police.
"I believed at that time the combination of alcohol, the excessive amount of people in the bar and the song that the DJ decided to play at that time was an intentional act by the DJ for inciting the crowd that showed a reckless disregard for public safety," she says.
Harris, who also performed at weddings and clubs, insisting that he already had "Fuck Tha Police" cued when the crowd is dissolved.
In 2014, a Harvard graduate was arrested by the police for the playback of the song while driving.
"Fuck Tha Police", has caused controversy since its launch in 1988. The tension that the song, and N. W. to the street of the person caused, is represented in the biopic Straight Outta Compton, which was released last summer. The film was awarded with top honors, including Best Film by the NAACP Image awards and Best film by the African American Film Critics Association.
