That's A wrap: A Tribe Called Quest's Final Show Was Bestival 2017
It's not the same without Phife.
Dorset, England, Fans attending Bestival 2017 has been a witness to history. During A Tribe Called Quest set in the England-based festival, Q-Tip said to the crowd that was watching the end of the display group.
"A Tribe Called Quest, we have suffered a coup," he said after stopping his performance of "Whateva Will be," according to NME. "We lost our son Phife Dawg. This is going to be our last show as A Tribe Called Quest, never."
The news is not a complete state of shock since his last race has been considered as a swan song for the Tribe. Their various stops during the last few months have declared their last show in each city.
If this is the end of the Tribe, the iconic crew came out in style. The Native Languages of the members celebrated the life of Phife last year for the release of his first album in 18 years, came from Here... Thank you 4 Your service, which received rave reviews.
While the Tribe that fans have come to know and love are apparently fact, another version of the group can arise to continue the legacy. Last year, Q-Tip teased a new iteration of ATCQ in an interview.
"Stay tuned for any other incarnation," he told BBC Radio 1. "We do not intend to stop because it was Phife's M. O."
