Young M. Believes that There are Too many Lil Yachtys and Lil Uzis In Hip Hop
"They are without a doubt exceeds the game right now."
Brooklyn rapper Young M. recently sat down for an interview with MONTREALITY, where he spoke about the current state of Hip-Hop, and the imbalance of the traditional lyricists and mumble rappers in the industry. During the 10 minutes of conversation, she equated the growing popularity of mumble rap with the decline of lyricism.
"There is definitely a lot of other things that are happening right now," M. said. "It's definitely not a balance, it is without a doubt one [side] higher than the other. I can't really say why."
She goes on to clarify that she does not mean that it is not a fan of the different types of rappers. "I can't never hit nobody," she said, "but the Lil Yachtys and Lil Uzis are definitely exceeds the game right now."
In another part of the interview, she discussed the impact of 50 Cent and G-Unit in the New York rap scene. "When it became the main stream, that is the first time that I knew who he was," he said. "From the moment it came out, it was like non-stop. He really took charge."
She later opened up about her impact on her personally. "I loved every bit of it because I was a big fan. Was G-Unit this, G-Unit. I repped G-Unit to the fullest."
After a plug for his recent HerStory EP, M. dropped some words of advice. "Just try to stay on the right path, keep a positive attitude, stop following the people," he said. "Just follow your own path, your own lane. Never allow what people's opinions or what people say to alternate, what you want to do in life."
